CURRENT ISSUE AUGUST
2008 |
| |
Dear Readers,
Welcome to the August issue of RVs
Downunder™. Inside this edition you will find some
wonderful travel stories from our resident
journalists. Meryl Brown Tobin takes us to
Blackall, home of the legendary Jack Howe,
Legendary shearer the greatest shearer in the
world, and Blackall’s most famous resident. His
record for the greatest number of sheep shorn with
blade shears in one eight hour day still stands. A
town rich in history, Blackall is located beside
the Barcoo River.
Whilst Chuff Lloyd visits Forster-Tuncaurry
and historic Failford. Forster is big highrise,
big boats, big money and becoming more
sophisticated daily; Tuncurry has a more relaxed
pace whilst little remains of Failford today.
Failford is a small hamlet off the Lakes Way just
up the road from Tuncurry on the way to Taree.
As for our long term journo Jim
Foster this issue we follow his adventures in
Carpe Diem. Being dedicated travellers with a love
of Australia’s great outdoors Jim and wife Cheryl
have long waited the for time when they too could
"seize the day" and sell their home and hit the
road for as long as they wanted.
We have some exciting new products
on the market to share with you like the all about
the new Navigator GPS from Hema Maps, as everyone
who has used a GPS is aware, there have been
problems with the GPSs in the market not meeting
the users’ needs, being too restrictive in their
applications and not giving any flexibility. So
Hema Maps has decided to solve the problems and
partnered up with VMS, the first in-car system to
also solve these problems. Out of the partnership
of Hema Maps and VMS the Hema Navigator was born.
As usual there is plenty to keep
you busy this month, enjoy!
Safe travels Ruth

Dear
Readers, As you may be aware we have missed out on
the June and July issue of RVs Downunder.
Unfortunately after the Melbourne Show in late
April our Editor came down very ill and was
hospitalised for some weeks with further
recuperation required for the next 5 weeks at
home.
Our team
here at RVs Downunder is such a small production
team hence we were unable to publish June
and July issues for you.
However we
are back on track now and Ruth is well on the way
to recovery with alot of help from family, friends
and the team.
We apologise
for any inconvenience and trust you continue
reading our little magazine.
The
RVs Downunder Team.

New KEA Campers a cruise for the eco-traveller
Already leading the Australian and New Zealand
motorhome industry in the fuel economy of its
vehicles, KEA Campers continues to provide
travellers with fuel-efficient and eco-friendly
holidays
with the introduction of cruise control to its
fleet of luxury
motorhomes
and campervans.
Standard to all new vehicles joining the rental
and sales fleets from July 2008, cruise control
goes hand in hand with fuel-efficient driving,
enabling drivers to maintain a constant speed
therefore cutting down in fuel consumption and
in turn reducing greenhouse gas emissions and
other pollutants.
